A Second Season, Higher Stakes
Wrexham AFC enter the 2026/27 Sky Bet Championship having finished seventh in their debut season — two points behind Hull City, who claimed the final play-off spot and subsequently won promotion to the Premier League. The Red Dragons know exactly what they are capable of, and what they narrowly missed.
The fixture list gives Parkinson's side no room to ease in. Cardiff City away on the opening Monday night, live on Sky Sports — the first league meeting between the Welsh clubs since March 2002, and the first ever at the Cardiff City Stadium. Within the opening six weeks, Wrexham face Burnley, West Ham United and Southampton — three sides freshly relegated from the Premier League with significant budgets and ambitions. Wolverhampton Wanderers arrive at STōK Cae Ras in November.
The season closes on 1 May at home against Bristol City — a fixture Wrexham fans will hope arrives as a promotion celebration.
